Beginner Class 7:15pm-9:15pm Basic training/in depth instruction for first Short Routine (4 Direction Form) $85/month
$25/class

Students may drop in at any time.  If you take the class the first time and decide not to sign up, the class is free.  Wear comfortable clothes to work out in and soft athletic shoes.  Dressing/locker rooms are available for use at Element Fitness. We recommend that students come early for the first time to fill out paperwork and visit with other students and the Instructor.  The Thursday class teaches the complete Warm-Up routine, plus the Silk Reeling Exercises for the first five movements of the Long Form.  After a break at 8 PM, the second session is more informal and is for learning and correcting the movements that the students have learned.  Every student learns at their own speed.  That’s why we don’t have sessions.  People get personal attention and a workout in these classes.  After four to 6 months, students can learn the first short routine called the “Four Direction Form.”  At this time they are eligible to start learning the Long Form (Lao Jia), which is taught on Saturdays.  Beginning Students may want to join the Weapons Class on Saturdays at 3:30 PM and also the Workshops each month on Saturdays from 3:30 – 5 PM.

Note, these classes can be taken repeatedly until you learn the routine.  The Intermediate Class continues on teaching the first 15 movements of the Long Form, after which students may join the Advanced Class 8 – 9 PM.

The above list of classes is provided to start learning Tai Chi. (55 minute, warm-ups and Four Direction follow along classes)  These classes follow the basic format of warm-up exercises, the basic movement repetitions, then putting the movements together for a routine.  It takes from two to four months to learn the beginning routine.

For students wanting to learn more in-depth information we recommend Thursdays 7 – 9 PM at Element Fitness for Beginners.  The first hour is devoted to Basic Training and warm - ups.  The second hour concentrates on teaching and correcting each movement so students can learn and remember them to practice correctly.

Students should wear loose fitting clothing suitable for the season.  During bad weather when there is a lot of rain/snow…..mud, try to bring shoes to change into so as not to make a mess on the training hall spaces.  Three Dragons Way suggests a flat soled, flexible, and soft shoe for Tai Chi practice.  Please do not wear clothing that advertises any subject in bad taste.  (Three Dragons Way reserves the right to decide what is in bad taste).

If you want to try Tai Chi and see what it’s like, then sign up at any of the classes listed under More Classes.  If you have decided that you want to learn Tai Chi and are looking for deeper instruction in the Art, then we suggest the Element Classes, or start with Private Lessons.  Private Lessons are $85/hour.  Private Students are required to spend time practicing so they can progress through the lessons of Tai Chi.  The Long Form (Lao Jia) takes a year to learn the basic 74 movements.  More time is required to practice and improve the movements and become proficient.

Tai Chi is a complicated and sophisticated training method that has been taught from teacher to student for hundreds of years.   Three Dragons Way is committed to teaching the original, authentic, and traditional Chen Tai Chi in the Kansas City area.

If you would like to start a program at your facility or have a demonstration/presentation for an event, Three Dragons Way is happy to work with you.   Three Dragons Way also has specialized Tai Chi Programs just for Retirement Facilities.
