More About Traditional Okinawan Weapons

Old Weapons Training for Warriors or Kabudo

Gary Huff is a 4th degree Black Belt in Okinawan Kobudo. He shares this Art with his students on a monthly basis.

Kobudo Class at Three Dragons Way includes the use of Traditional Okinawan Karate Weapons.
They include the 6 ft Bo Staff, Tonfa, Sai, Nunchaku, Kama, Nunte Bo, and the Eku.
The Forms come from the Matayoshi Style of Kobudo.

Students start learning the use of the 6 ft Bo Staff. Basic stances and how to use the Staff for defense as well as offensive strikes and counters. Students learn more routines, or Forms, with each weapon and become more skilled as they practice. This is a great curriculum for Parents and Kids between 10 – 16 yrs.

These weapons Forms teach discipline and respect for such tools since they are dangerous when misused. They are not easily concealed so it is very difficult to carry them in public without getting noticed. They are useful today in that they teach moral and ethical lessons about the use of force and power.

Students will have the opportunity to test and earn ranking in Kobudo when they have learned the Forms and can demonstrate the proper use of them.

Practice Weapons are not provided.
Participants must have their own.
All Practice Weapons must be approved by the Teacher.
