Rex D. Archer, MD, MPH is a professor of Population and Public Health at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City University. He began at KCU after 23 years as Director of Health for the City of Kansas City, MO.

He learned his first tai chi form while a medical student in Kansas City, at Loose Park 45 years ago. He has been practicing Chen Style Tai Chi since 2016 and is a Certified Level 1 instructor at the Three Dragons Way School of Tai Chi.

Dr. Archer has worked over the years to improve social and environmental factors that impact public health. His research into and personal practice of Tai Chi has led him to value the practice of  Tai Chi as a form of preventative care.  He started teaching  Tai Chi to students and faculty at the KCU College of Osteopathic Medicine in the Fall of 2022, hoping to inspire this same understanding of this practice in his students and colleagues.
